Vesta in Pisces
the asteroid Vesta in the sign Pisces, in modern Western asteroid astrology
What the tradition reads
Both modern delineations read Vesta in Pisces as devotion without a visible object. Always Astrology reads the placement as dedicated to serving those in need, sacrificing itself or showing deep compassion in that service, wanting to heal others, holding its beliefs in high regard, spiritual, and gifted with an excellent imagination; it warns that such a person may be led into fantasy, may not be sure how they do what they do, runs the risk of not living in reality, and has to awaken into themselves and join body, mind and spirit. Astrology Club reads the same placement as protecting the flame of dreams and of a spirituality that goes past the human condition, with a mission to believe in what lies outside the five senses and outside intellectual understanding, a focus on a creative and artistic vision held inwardly, and a commitment to the healing of spiritual values. By that page's pattern of renunciation, beliefs themselves are what get sacrificed, along with the right to say what is felt inside and the dreams that carried it; the same page reads this position's sexuality as a spiritual bliss reached through human touch and contact. Cafe Astrology's keywords, devotion and a sense of purpose, sit beneath both.
The story
The few myths Vesta has are about a conception no one witnessed. Wikipedia's account of the goddess records that the myths depicting Vesta and her priestesses were few, and that the most notable of them were tales of the miraculous impregnation of a virgin priestess by a phallus appearing in the flames of the sacred hearth, taken as the manifestation of the goddess combined with a male supernatural being; in some Roman traditions Rome's founders Romulus and Remus, and the benevolent king Servius Tullius, were conceived in this way. The same page reports that Vesta was ambiguous at times because of her association with the phallus, being at once the most virgin and clean of the gods and addressed as mother and granted fertility, and that she was sometimes thought of as a personification of the fire stick turned in a hollow piece of wood to light her flame. Its account of the priestesses adds that Rhea Silvia, the mother of Romulus and Remus, was herself a priestess of Vesta, in Livy's version forced into the priesthood by a usurping uncle, and that the twins were fathered by Mars.
