Juno in Pisces
the asteroid Juno in tropical Pisces
What the tradition reads
The reading of Juno is recent, dating from the 1970s, and the corpus states that rather than presenting it as ancient teaching. Cafe Astrology reads the sign Juno occupies as the ground where a person wants to do well and wants the scales level, and as a place that can become a source of strength once it is understood. In Pisces, the site's delineation reads natives who value keeping some level of mystery or privacy around one another in their relationships, and who give others space and room to reach their own conclusions. What they are said to dislike most is any attempt to box them in, to pin them down, to demand that feelings be defined or quantified, or to require that a script be followed; a partner or close friend who prefers well defined boundaries and resists merging is named as the frustration here. Against Juno's general themes of commitment and give and take, this is read as a placement where the need in a bond is for room left unmeasured, which the tradition offers as a pattern and never as instruction for a particular relationship.
The story
The sources show Hera's identity running into other identities. Wikipedia reports that the work known as On the Syrian Goddess suggests a cult worshipped a goddess who was simultaneously the Syrian Atargatis and Hera, and that the Legend of Aphroditian identifies Hera with the Virgin Mary, a step the same page connects with one of Hera's reported abilities, the miraculous restoration of her own virginity. That restoration had a place: at the spring of Kanathos, close to Nauplia, she is said to have renewed her virginity each year in rites that were not to be spoken of, counted among the holy secrets of the mysteries celebrated in her honour. Like the bride who took her bridal bath, the goddess bathed and began again. A marriage goddess whose central rite could not be described, and whose figure dissolves into other goddesses when followed across the Mediterranean, belongs beside a sign the tradition reads through merging, mystery and what will not hold a firm outline.
