What the tradition reads

Uranus spends about seven years in any one sign of its eighty four year circuit, and Cafe Astrology's own delineation treats a Uranus placement chiefly as a generational influence for that reason, shared by everyone born while the planet crossed that stretch of sky and felt personally only where it aligns with the Sun, Moon or another personal point in an individual chart. Virgo is a mutable earth sign, ruled by Mercury, and the tradition reads it as the sign of practical service, careful work and exacting daily routine. Uranus there is read as most interested in making changes, innovating and updating tradition around exactly that ground: work, working life, health, routines, habits, daily life, service and employment. The story

Uranus, the primordial sky, fathered the Titans with Gaia, among them Cronus, who ended his father's reign by castrating him with an adamantine sickle Gaia had made, angry that Uranus hated and hid away their own children; the sky father receded from the story after that single act and took no further hand in what followed. Virgo's own maiden is remembered under several names, among them Astraea, said to have been the very last immortal willing to remain on earth once the other gods had already withdrawn to Olympus at the end of the Silver Age. A planet remembered for its own single, decisive withdrawal from the world meets, in Virgo, the sign of the one figure who refused to withdraw for as long as she possibly could; a generation under Uranus here is read as one asked to force exactly that kind of overdue departure, breaking apart whatever careful, patient service has quietly outlived its usefulness and simply stayed too long out of habit.
