Uranus in Aquarius
Uranus in tropical Aquarius, its own modern domicile; because Uranus moves so slowly, the tradition reads a sign placement like this one for a whole generation as much as for any one person
What the tradition reads
Aquarius is the one sign the modern astrologers give Uranus as its own, alongside Saturn's older, classical rulership there; Wikipedia's page on the sign names both rulers, Saturn traditionally and Uranus by the modern addition, since the planet's own qualities, discovered only in 1781, were felt to suit this sign better than any other. Uranus still spends only about seven years in any one sign of its eighty four year circuit, and Cafe Astrology's own delineation treats even this, its own modern domicile, chiefly as a generational influence, shared by everyone born while the planet crossed this stretch of sky and felt personally only where it lines up with the Sun, Moon or another personal point in an individual chart. Aquarius is a fixed air sign, read by the tradition as the sign of the group over the individual, detachment and a loyalty owed to the wider community. Uranus there is read as most interested in making changes, innovating and updating tradition around exactly that community: technology, friendship, liberty, individuality, kinship and fraternity. A generation carrying Uranus in its own sign is read as one given an unusually direct hand in reshaping the very idea of community for everyone that follows it, atmosphere more than any one chart's private signature.
The story
Uranus, the primordial sky, fathered the Titans with Gaia, among them Cronus, who ended his father's long reign by castrating him with an adamantine sickle Gaia herself had made, angry at Uranus for hating and hiding away the children she had borne him; the sky father withdrew from the story after that single stroke and played no further part in what followed among his own children and grandchildren. Aquarius's water carrier was, to the Greeks, Ganymede, a beautiful Phrygian youth spotted by Zeus while tending his father's flocks, carried off bodily to the heavens in the form of a great bird to serve thereafter as cupbearer to the gods. Uranus, given only this one sign as fully its own, meets in Aquarius a figure likewise taken permanently out of an ordinary life and fixed into a new, structured role among the gods; a generation under Uranus here, in the one sign that finally claims the planet as native rather than visitor, is read as being asked to accept its own version of Ganymede's abrupt reassignment, carried somewhere entirely new without much warning and expected to serve a larger, stranger purpose there.
