What the tradition reads
Mars holds no domicile, exaltation or particular weakness in Gemini by the scheme Ptolemy sets out in the Tetrabiblos; the sign belongs to Mercury, and Mars there is read as drive and direct action coloured by the host planet's own quickness and variety rather than expressed in its own more singular, sustained register. Gemini is a mutable air sign, read by the tradition as the gathering of information from many directions, and Mars set there is read as a force that fights and acts primarily with words rather than with the body, needing constant change to stay genuinely energised. Cafe Astrology's delineation describes Mars in Gemini as quickly exhausted by boredom and a genuine powerhouse once properly stimulated, most naturally aggressive in argument and conversation, often channelling its physical energy into the hands through music, puzzles or games rather than direct confrontation, and adaptable enough to thrive on change even as its efforts scatter across too many projects at once. The tradition names a restless nervous energy as the placement's ordinary cost, a force that struggles to commit fully to any single fight or project, though the same adaptability is credited with a genuine versatility that steadier, more singular placements often lack.
The story
Castor and Pollux share a single fate despite being fundamentally different from birth, one mortal and one immortal, one the son of a king and the other of Zeus himself; when Castor died, Pollux would not let the difference stand and asked to divide his own immortality between them rather than keep it whole for himself. It is a myth built on holding two genuinely different natures inside one bond without ever quite choosing between them. Mars in Gemini is read as fighting the same way the twins were fated: never fully one thing, energy split across more than one channel at once, force expressed as readily through a sharp argument as through anything more physical, and rarely willing to commit its whole self to a single, sustained battle when it could instead be doing two or three smaller things at the same time. The restlessness the tradition names as this placement's cost is, in effect, Pollux's own old choice run in miniature: rather than spend its whole force in one direction, Mars in Gemini would rather divide it, the way the immortal twin once divided something far more valuable than mere energy.
