The Vyaghata nitya yoga
a birth, or an activity begun, under the Vyaghata nitya yoga, the panchanga's own yoga found by summing the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, not a planetary combination yoga
What the tradition reads
Vyaghata is the thirteenth of the twenty seven nitya yogas, the panchanga limb Wikipedia's article on the Panchangam describes as found from the sum of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, a computation distinct from any planetary combination yoga formed by grahas placed together in a chart. Onesanatan.com reads its name as beating, destruction or a deadly blow, names Vayu, the wind god, as its ruling deity, and classes it inauspicious, a verdict astrogle.com's own reading confirms under the spelling Vyagatha, describing a native as cruel and intent on harming others. Both sources agree Vyaghata is among the more actively harmful of the twenty seven, its violence read as deliberate rather than accidental, a blow struck rather than a misfortune merely suffered.
The story
Vayu, Wikipedia's article records, is at once the Hindu god of wind and the divine messenger of the gods, described in the Rigveda as born from the breath of the supreme being Vishvapurusha and honoured there as the very first god to receive the sacrificial soma, sharing that first drink with Indra himself. The same wind that carries such honour also carries force enough to father two of the tradition's great warriors, Hanuman in the Ramayana and Bhima in the Mahabharata, the latter explicitly named Vayu's spiritual son and a central combatant of the Kurukshetra war. A yoga of beating and destruction, ruled by a god whose breath is elsewhere praised in the Upanishads as prana, the very life breath of the world, shows the same force read two ways: the wind that sustains every living thing is, at its most violent, exactly what a storm's deadly blow is made of, and Vyaghata's harsh reading draws on that destructive half rather than the sustaining one.
