The Shubha nitya yoga
a birth, or an activity begun, under the Shubha nitya yoga, the panchanga's own yoga found by summing the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, not a planetary combination yoga
What the tradition reads
Shubha is the twenty third of the twenty seven nitya yogas, the panchanga limb Wikipedia's article on the Panchangam derives from the sum of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, distinct from any planetary combination yoga read from particular grahas placed together in a chart. Onesanatan.com reads its name as auspicious, good or shining, names Lakshmi as its ruling deity, and classes the yoga auspicious outright. Astrogle.com's own reading, given under the spelling Subha, largely agrees, describing a native of lustrous body and personality who is generally wealthy, but qualifies the picture by noting problems with health and an irritable temper alongside that shine, a mixed rather than wholly favourable verdict. The two sources agree, then, that Shubha grants a genuine brightness while disagreeing on whether that brightness comes without cost.
The story
Lakshmi, Wikipedia's article records, is one of Hinduism's principal goddesses, revered for fortune, wealth, prosperity, beauty and abundance together, and the Shatapatha Brahmana gives her origin as Shri, who emerges from Prajapati after his own intense meditation on the creation of life, described at her birth as a resplendent, trembling woman already possessed of immense energy and power, so striking that the gods immediately approach her seeking their own portions of what she carries, food for Agni, kingly authority for Soma, and so on for each in turn. A yoga named for shining auspiciousness, ruled by a goddess whose very arrival made every god present want a share of her, fits Shubha's brightness closely, and the same story, of a splendour so immediately sought after by others, may also be where astrogle.com's more mixed reading, brilliance paired with irritability and strain, finds its root: a light everyone wants a piece of is rarely left entirely at peace.
