The Shobhana nitya yoga
a birth, or an activity begun, under the Shobhana nitya yoga, the panchanga's own yoga found by summing the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, not a planetary combination yoga
What the tradition reads
Shobhana is the fifth of the twenty seven nitya yogas, the panchanga limb Wikipedia's article on the Panchangam describes as found from the sum of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, a computation unrelated to any planetary combination yoga formed between grahas placed together in a single chart. Onesanatan.com reads its name as beautiful or splendid, names Brihaspati, Jupiter, as its ruling deity, and classes the yoga auspicious outright. Astrogle.com's own reading, given there under the spelling Sobhana, agrees on the same beauty but qualifies it, describing a native of lustrous body and demeanour who can also become a sensualist, even obsessed with sex, a mixed rather than purely favourable verdict. The two sources therefore agree that Shobhana grants a striking, attractive nature while disagreeing on whether that attractiveness is an unqualified benefit or a splendour that can tip into excess.
The story
Brihaspati, Wikipedia's article records, is guru to all the devas, a sage described in the Rigveda as born from the first great light and carrying a bow strung with rta itself, cosmic order. His own household is not free of the disorder his wisdom otherwise guards, since his wife Tara is abducted by Chandra, the Moon, and the child born of that union becomes Budha, Mercury, a scandal that touches even the counsellor whose whole office is right judgement. A yoga of beauty and splendour, ruled by a sage revered above all for wisdom yet unable to keep even his own marriage untouched by desire's disruption, fits the tension astrogle.com's mixed reading points to: Shobhana's brilliance is real, the tradition suggests, but brilliance of this kind has, in the ruling deity's own history, already once proven difficult to contain.
