The Shiva nitya yoga
a birth, or an activity begun, under the Shiva nitya yoga, the panchanga's own yoga found by summing the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, not a planetary combination yoga
What the tradition reads
Shiva is the twentieth of the twenty seven nitya yogas, computed, as Wikipedia's article on the Panchangam sets out, from the sum of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes rather than from any planetary combination yoga read from grahas placed together in a chart, a distinction worth stating plainly since this yoga shares its name with the god Shiva without being ruled by him. Onesanatan.com reads the yoga's own name as auspicious, benevolent or pure, and both onesanatan.com and astrogle.com class it favourably, astrogle.com's reading naming a native honoured by superiors and government, placid, learned, religious and generally wealthy. Onesanatan.com's table, however, names not Shiva but Mitra as this yoga's actual ruling deity, a mismatch between name and deity this entry records as the source presents it rather than resolving in either direction.
The story
Mitra, Wikipedia's article explains, governs contracts, oaths and friendship, his very name built from a root meaning that which causes to bind, and in post Vedic tradition the same word simply comes to mean friend in most languages descended from Sanskrit. Mitra is described there as inseparable from Varuna, the pair together maintaining rta, cosmic order, and standing as barriers against falsehood, though Varuna remains the greater of the two, with Mitra coming to be associated with dawn and the morning light against Varuna's evening and night. A yoga named auspicious and pure, yet placed under a god of binding oaths and quiet daybreak rather than under Shiva himself, fits its own favourable reading in an understated way: the honour and religious learning astrogle.com gives its native are the fruits less of dramatic power than of a promise kept and a friendship maintained without fail.
