Life path 6
general summary for a numerological life path of 6; outside astronomy
What the tradition reads
Six, like every life path number, is calculated from numerology's own arithmetic rather than from astronomy, reducing the digits of a birth date, month, day and year, to a single figure or to a master number kept whole, with no reference to the sky. A life path of six is read as the caretaker, its whole nature centred on compassion and service: it has concern for the weak and the downtrodden, the tradition says, and is a healer and a helper capable of giving real comfort to those in need. It is read as naturally balanced, well equipped to support and ground the people around it, and blessed with musical and artistic talent as well as, less expectedly, enormous talent in business, carried by real charm and charisma. A six is described as humble and yet quietly proud, generous, kind and attractive, often admired for exactly the qualities it can least see in itself. Its named shadow is over responsibility: a six tends to fill the void left by others and to accept personal sacrifice too readily, at risk of feeling overburdened by everyone else's troubles, and the tradition names the specific danger of thinking of itself as the saviour of the world. It must learn, the reading holds, to discriminate between those it can genuinely help and those who are only made weaker by its care, including in choosing a partner for the wrong, sentimental reasons rather than the right ones.
The story
This reading comes from World Numerology, the practice Hans Decoz built after discovering numerology in 1969 in a worn secondhand book, then emigrating from Amsterdam to the United States in 1981 and opening a professional numerology practice in Houston, which by 1982 had produced the DecozChart, computerised in 1987, and later the fuller individual reports the current World Numerology site's life path pages draw their readings from. The reduction of a birth date's digits to a single figure, the arithmetic behind every life path number including six, is not Decoz's own invention: numerology broadly traces its use of number to the Pythagorean tradition, founded in the sixth century BCE by Pythagoras of Samos and recorded as practising isopsephy, deriving a numerical value from a name's letters rather than from a calendar date, a different technique from the one modern life path numerology performs but the lineage the practice claims for its own method. Because the number is worked out from the birth date alone and makes no claim on any star or planet, this corpus keeps it in its own domain, separate from a chart based reading.
