Life path 22
general summary for a numerological life path of 22 (a master number); outside astronomy
What the tradition reads
Twenty two, worked out from a birth date the same way every life path number is, is one of numerology's three master numbers, alongside eleven and thirty three, kept whole rather than reduced to a single figure because its digits point to two and two, "not because they have two identical digits, but because those digits are 1, 2, and 3 respectively" across the whole set of three; twenty two is grouped with them as more demanding as well as more potentially powerful than an ordinary double digit number. A life path of twenty two is read as the visionary with its feet on the ground, able to see both the beauty and the practical method that will bring an idea to fruition, gifted with uncommonly sound common sense and an intuitive ability to judge a possibility by how practical it actually is. The tradition credits it with a natural understanding of large institutions and an ability to think and act on an international scale, and, in relationships, with being a steady partner who offers sound advice and consistent emotional support. Its named shadow is a tendency to control people and situations, sometimes tempted toward outright manipulation, a lack of faith in other people's abilities, and a rigidity the reading calls perhaps its weakest characteristic; out of balance, a twenty two can turn moody, aloof and withdrawn. The number is named, elsewhere in the same tradition, the most difficult of the three master numbers to live up to.
The story
This reading comes from World Numerology, the practice Hans Decoz built after finding numerology in 1969 in a worn secondhand book, emigrating from Amsterdam to the United States in 1981, and opening a professional numerology practice in Houston that produced the DecozChart in 1982 and, later, the fuller individual reports the current site's life path pages draw on. Decoz's Master Numbers page treats eleven, twenty two and thirty three as a distinct set apart from other repeated digit doubles such as forty four or fifty five, which it instead calls Power numbers, "more powerful than other double-digit numbers" but "not considered Master numbers," a line drawn by which single digit, one, two or three, the pair reduces toward rather than by the mere fact of repetition. The site also treats a master number's status as context dependent: reduced to a single figure when the shorter personal year, month and day cycles are calculated, but kept whole in the life path and birthday numbers, which is why a twenty two life path is read in its own right rather than as an elevated four.
