The twelfth bhava

the twelfth whole-sign house in the Vedic chart, Vyaya Bhava

What the tradition reads

The twelfth house, Vyaya Bhava, the house of loss, governs expenditure, foreign residence, isolation and confinement, the end of the physical life, and, in the fuller classical reading, spiritual liberation, moksha, along with sleep and the pleasures of the bed. It is the last of the twelve houses and the last of the dusthana, the difficult houses, yet the tradition treats it with more respect than the label suggests, since it is also the house of what a person releases willingly, money spent on a good cause, attachment surrendered on the way to a deeper peace, or a private retreat from the world that restores rather than depletes. A well disposed twelfth house is read as giving a rich private or spiritual life, comfortable circumstances abroad, and an ease with letting go of what no longer serves; afflicted, the tradition warns of unrecoverable losses, imprisonment or isolation, and a restlessness that finds no rest even in sleep. Because it precedes the first house of the following life in the tradition's own account of rebirth, the twelfth is read as the threshold a person crosses on the way out of one existence and into the next.

The story

Paramarsh.app's Kalapurusha doctrine maps the body onto the twelve rashis, not the twelve bhavas: its FAQ states that the scheme works by "each of the twelve signs governing a specific anatomical region," and its discussion of the sixth house calls that rashi based map, together with any house's own analysis, "distinct tools" rather than one single map of the chart's twelve houses. On paramarsh.app's own table, the feet belong to Meena, the twelfth and last sign of the zodiac, described as governing "feet, toes, soles, heels," the sequence's own close, not to Vyaya Bhava, the twelfth house, as such. Meena holds the twelfth position only in a chart where Meena itself occupies it; in any other chart the feet travel with whichever sign sits there instead, closing the rashi sequence rather than the house sequence. Astrosutras.in's own line for the twelfth house names expenditure, foreign residence, isolation, confinement and, in the fuller classical reading, moksha, the departures Vyaya Bhava is actually read for, but no part of the body.
