What the tradition reads

The tenth house, Karma Bhava, the house of action, governs profession, public standing, authority and reputation, and the actions by which a person is known to the wider world beyond family and private life. It is the most public of the four kendras, standing directly overhead in the chart's own geometry, and the tradition reads it as the house where all the private material of the other eleven bhavas is finally converted into something visible, a career, a title, a name recognised by strangers. A well disposed tenth house is read as giving professional success, authority and a good public reputation; afflicted, the tradition warns of a career marked by setbacks, a name entangled in scandal, or effort that never quite receives the recognition it earns elsewhere in the chart. Because it stands opposite the fourth house, the tradition reads the two together as the whole of a life's outward and inward halves, the private contentment of the fourth measured against the public achievement of the tenth, each one, in the classical reading, incomplete without some regard for the other.

The story

Paramarsh.app's Kalapurusha doctrine maps the body onto the twelve rashis, not the twelve bhavas: its FAQ states that the scheme works by "each of the twelve signs governing a specific anatomical region," and its discussion of the sixth house calls that rashi based map, together with any house's own analysis, "distinct tools" rather than one single map of the chart's twelve houses. On paramarsh.app's own table, the knees belong to Makara, the tenth sign of the zodiac, "knees, kneecap (patella), lower joints of the leg, bones of the lower extremity," governed by Saturn as the lord of Makara, not by Karma Bhava, the tenth house, as such. Makara holds the tenth position only in a chart where Makara itself occupies it; in any other chart the knees travel with whichever sign sits there instead, Saturn's rule following the sign rather than the house. Astrosutras.in's own line for the tenth house names profession, career growth, social status and recognition, the public standing Karma Bhava is actually read for, but no joint of the body.
