Sources describe a diplomatic temperament "usually respected as fair, moderate, and judicious," an aptitude for teaching, science and mathematics, and a preference for calculated change over impulsive upheaval. Cafe Astrology notes that the aspect "is shared by many born within the same year or two, and thus is less personal than other aspects," being read as one of the more generational contacts this pairing produces. Between two charts, one person's Saturn sextile another's Uranus is read as a workable division of labour: "one, the Saturn person, helps the other bring form or structure to their ideas," while "in return, the Uranus person helps Saturn see where rigidity or clinging to tradition is limiting." Sources call the contact one indication of a long standing union.

The story

A sextile is sixty degrees, a sixth of the circle, one of the four configurations Ptolemy names, read through the compatible signs it joins and requiring some active engagement on the native's part to bear its ease into use. Uranus is Saturn's own father. Gaia, angered by his cruelty toward their children, fashioned a sickle and persuaded Cronus, the youngest of the Titans and the one the Romans would later conflate with their own Saturn, to use it; it was Cronus who then castrated Uranus and cast the remains into the sea. At this easier angle, that old act of overthrow reads as settled into method rather than violence, Saturn now simply consulting, at a comfortable distance, the very restless force he once had to overthrow outright.
