Sources also note an inclination toward secrecy, real investigative ability, and a strong need for solitude. Between two charts, one person's Saturn conjunct another's Neptune is read as a meeting of differing worldviews: the Saturn person can seem grounding and practical to the Neptune person, who in turn reminds Saturn of life's subtler dimensions, though sources warn the pairing can sour when "the Saturn person could consider Neptune as a bit spaced out," or when Neptune feels "flattened by the Saturn person's too-frequent reminders of the practical."

The story

A conjunction fuses two natures at one degree, the strongest configuration by the tradition's own reckoning even though it falls outside the four configurations Ptolemy measures by distance. Neptune is one of three brothers, with Jupiter and Pluto, who divided the cosmos after their father Saturn's fall; Neptune's own page names the sea as the portion that division gave him. Fused together at one degree, the father who once ruled everything and the son who inherited only the restless sea become a single, doubled claim on the one element that neither can ever fully hold still.
