The story

A conjunction sets two bodies at, or close to, the same degree, with no real angular distance between them; Ptolemy's own chapter on the mutual configuration of the signs measures the opposition, trine, square and sextile by the number of degrees separating two positions, yet Wikipedia's summary counts the conjunction among the five traditional major aspects sometimes called Ptolemaic, and reports that conjunctions are said to be the most powerful aspects, because they mutually intensify the effects of the involved planets. Hermes is credited with inventing the lyre, built from a tortoise shell on a sudden, unasked for inspiration rather than through any careful plan; named for the primordial sky Ouranos, born of Gaia herself before their union produced the Titans, the Cyclopes and the Hundred Handed Ones, one generation of new beings after another, Uranus carries into this pairing an old and prolific kind of invention the tradition keeps. Fused with Uranus, the herald's usual cleverness is amplified into something closer to invention itself, a mind that does not merely carry an existing idea between two points but generates a new one on the spot, the way that same sky god kept fathering new orders of being, one generation answering the last.
