What the tradition reads

Within a single chart Jupiter trine Pluto is read as sharing the sextile's gifts at an easier angle still: an excellent capacity for improvement, real resourcefulness, and a reputation, the tradition notes, for success in building wealth. Where the sextile still asks something of the native to bring its promise into use, the trine's version of the same faith in one's own power to grow, improve, and heal is described as needing no particular occasion, simply present as part of the native's temperament. Between two charts, one person's Jupiter trine another's Pluto is read, again like the sextile, as harmonious energy that supports both people's philosophies, ideals and ambitions at once: sources describe the contact as lending ease to each partner's sense of development, their power aspirations and their growth objectives alike, the two reinforcing rather than competing for the same ground.

The story

A trine is a hundred and twenty degrees, a third of the circle, one of the four configurations Ptolemy names and one of the two he calls harmonious. Jupiter and Pluto are brothers. Cronus, the Titan the Saturn page says the Romans conflated with their own Saturn, fell from power, and the cosmos was divided in three among his sons: Zeus, whom the Jupiter page itself names as the Greek original the Romans retold under Jupiter's name, took the sky; Poseidon took the sea; Pluto took the underworld, on the telling Pluto's own page gives. At this most flowing angle, the brothers' old division reads as settled rather than contested, sky and underworld each secure enough in its own portion to lend the other easy support.
