The story
An opposition is a hundred and eighty degrees, the full diameter of the circle, standing two bodies at the greatest possible distance; Ptolemy counted it among his four configurations. Uranus is Jupiter's own grandfather, two generations back in the genealogy the Uranus page traces. Gaia, angered by his cruelty toward their children, persuaded her son Cronus to overthrow him, and it was Cronus, that same page says, whom Uranus and Gaia in turn warned would himself be overthrown by one of his own children, a warning that led Rhea to protect the infant Zeus so the prophecy could eventually be fulfilled. Standing at the full distance of the wheel from each other, the two ask a single question from opposite sides: whether an order, however hard won, is ever allowed to consider itself finished.
